08/31/2010 - East Rutherford, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The New York Giants have placed quarterback Jim Sorgi and wide receiver Sinorice Moss on injured reserve.
Sorgi, who was signed in March to back up Eli Manning, suffered a shoulder injury in the preseason opener. The veteran had spent the past six seasons backing up Manning's brother Peyton in Indianapolis.
Without Sorgi, the Giants currently have only Rhett Bomar and Dominic Randolph as backup signal-callers.
Moss, a second-round draft pick in 2006, underwent surgery on Tuesday morning to have a sports hernia repaired. He has 39 career receptions for 421 yards with three touchdowns.
The Giants also placed rookie linebacker Adrian Tracy on injured reserve. Tracy was a sixth-round pick in April's draft and had elbow surgery on Monday.
To reduce the roster to 75, the Giants also released rookie wide receiver Nyan Boateng and placed offensive lineman Kevin Boothe on the physically unable to perform list.
Boothe will miss the first six weeks of the season as he continues to recover from a torn pectoral muscle. He will then be able to practice for three weeks before the team makes a determination on his roster status for the remainder of the season.
